Although this news story is out of Michigan, it could well be here in Oregon. Workers Compensation carriers routinely use doctors (inaccurately referred to as Independent Medical Examiners) to deny claims. This happens everywhere, and certainly here in Oregon. Just this week I saw two clients who had legitimate injuries with objective evidence of the injury and ongoing problems have their claims closed base on very shoddy opinions by what our Supreme Court calls Compelled Medical exams. The link is to a 4 minute news video. When you get to the end of it the injured worker looks at the camera and says “This could happen to you tomorrow.” He is correct.
